As it's the end of the month, I'm going to go ahead and post something for you guys and gals. I mean, it's only fair because... well, I haven't posted much lately. All through this month there's been a drought of words and substance, and it hasn't been... well... it hasn't been cool with me. I say it's time to stop (for now). What better way to do it than with a decent entry?
It's going to be interesting, so grab a seat. This could be a while.

Insult to Injury

You know it's not a good day when you're playing video games and you're not doing so well. Well, it doesn't tell you at first - you think you're doing okay. Then the game decides to throw your crappiness in your face. Not only do you feel bad about it, but you sit there wondering, "How bad am I?" As if that wasn't enough, the game decides to insult you.
ARGH. Why must Nintendo mock me like this!? WHY!?
But seriously, go play Rhythm Heaven Fever. Great, great game - unless your rhythm sucks.
Well... that sucks. |

Heard That Already
I go to work today. Whopee. As such, I might as well tell you something cool.
Decent entry tomorrow. (*scoffs* Yeah, right.)
Also, at this time I would like to remind you that today is Monday - and that means it's the start of the week.
Until the 'morrow!

Do you ever get that feeling that you're being followed sometimes? I mean, you're driving home from work blasting something ridiculous (say, "Tunak Tunak Tun") and you notice the same two pairs of headlights mirroring your movements? They change lanes moments after you do; get off the same off-ramp; enter the same neighborhood... and it begins to make you worry.
You could do the dumb thing and let them follow you to wherever you're going. You could do the crazy thing and accidentally turn into a dead end. Or you can do something reasonably smart and make erratic turns and get out of the area.
This happened to me just right now. I'm a little creeped out. And as such, I'm going to go to bed.

Short and Sweet
Maaaaaan, last night was cool. (Minus the work part.) As I've been suddenly coerced to get things done tonight, I'm afraid I'm going to have to leave you with this short entry. Oh, well.

Roll The Hard Six
Friday... a day that most people embrace lovingly. Some people like myself are unable to do that, though - a work schedule that demands your time when you don't want it being demanded (especially one from retail) really loves frakking with you at times. It grips you with this sense that your will day is no longer your own, and you have to bow down and succumb to its desires.
As such, one would expect me to capitulate to this day as well. I mean... I've been sorta doing that for the past... *looks at the archives* ...nine days now? Today, Friday asked me again if I felt like doing nothing. Just when I was about to say "yes," I remembered something:
And who said television filled your mind with crap?
So, was it time to roll over and beg to get out of today - to write some lame-ass entry and not do anything else afterwards? Nuh-uh - I think it's time to fight back and start posting good stuff on here again! TIME TO ROLL THE HARD SIX!
...oh, well. I tried.

So I've been on a Battlestar Galactica binge right now, and it's just delicious. Maybe not as delicious as sandwiches, but delicious all the same. (If you're asking how I think sandwiches can taste better than Galactica, then I guess you don't know that I can make a mean sandwich if the conditions are right.)
As such, I'm not here to post anything decent (other than the whole "post once a day" thing), and I'm here to tell you that this is a good off-day that's well spent. Now if you'll excuse me... I need to bring the fight back to the toasters. So say we all!

Scene Change
If I had to ask if something strange was in the air, then I would probably get quite a few perplexed reactions. Not surprising. What IS surprising is that while I know that something's just over the horizon, I can't get a good read on it. We'll just have to see.
But enough cryptic speak. I'm gonna go off and work today. Whoo.
Expect something before the weekend.

Rhythmic Chaos

To anyone who will be working in the press later on in life - when all of our dreams are realized and I'm a famous badass of some sort - someone remind me to do this for an interview. Hell, I'll do it anyway regardless of fame status. It's just that funny.
The video you see here is "Ringside" - just one of the many minigames from Rhythm Heaven Fever, a Nintendo Wii game released last February in American soil. (Japan got it last July. I'm jealous.) Hilarious and downright catchy, this collection of rhythm-based games will be sure to fill your day with amusement and make you live through heaven and hell, regardless of whether not you're playing the game or just spectating.
It's been keeping me occupied lately (there's a couple games in here that are surprisingly challenging), and as such, that's why today's entry is short. If you're going to complain, then don't - I might lose my rhythm. *poses*

Hitting a Reset
I stared at a blank screen for what seemed like an hour before I began typing this entry out. I don't know why it took me so long to get typing, but it did. Annoying, really - no reason or explanation as to why I'm just so lacking in my entries lately.
Perhaps it's time to do some resetting of some kind. And I think I know just the way to do that. What it is, I can't tell you. You'll just have to find out in due time.
In the meantime, while I'm booting up, I'll leave you with this geekish rendition of the famed "Super Mario Bros. Theme" - as performed by floppy disk drives of all things. If this doesn't count as being geeky, then I don't know what will. *plays along*

Preparatory Madness
I have this urge to do something crazy. Write a big (and badass) entry... go on a binge on my Wii (hey, Radiant Dawn sounds fun right now)... do something crazy-awesome with my friends on my days off... I don't know.
All I know is that some of madness wants to show itself to me this week. Whether or not I'm going to showcase it to y'all is another matter.
*goes off laughing*

So Far This Time
So far this year hasn't really seen that many great entries. I don't know why that is. Maybe I've gotten lazy and soft... or maybe I ran out of ideas to blather on about.
Feh, like that's possible. I can't shut up. So maybe it's just the former reason. Man, I gotta work on that.
Anyway, work tonight all through Monday night. Whoo-hoo.

What in the world...?
So what happened yesterday? Instead of a big entry, we got some crazy, almost-cryptic entry of a story that's confusing even me.
I'd tell you right now, but I fell behind on things I had to do, and as such, I was forced to type this up at work.
You'll hear about all of it tomorrow.

Zulu Year
As tonight draws to a close, I figured I'd write here on this online journal. Normally, I'd lampoon such a decision with sarcasm and an air of futility (I mean, who would be around to read this?), but I suppose it would be best to do so for... what a colleague of mine said would be "the future." While I don't know whether or not she's right, it does provide me solace in knowing that I can unload my thoughts.
Feh. As if jotting all this madness down would ease my conscience. There's no future in this world; no hope beyond waking up to a desolate and decimated world torn apart by conflict. And yet here I am.

Totally Saw This Coming
Working on these things is taking a lot more time than I originally thought. There's a lot of things I have to type up and a great amount of coding I have to go through and meticulously check. Blogger's system of writing is great as it allows me to toggle from viewing the rough draft in pure HTML form and in a WYSIWYG form. However, every time I go back and forth, it alters parts of the code and forces me to re-type and remove said parts for the final product to work.
Normally, I wouldn't mind so much, but as I've been doing this for the greater length of three hours, I'm starting to get a little bit frazzled. I'm tired of typing things up, and now I just want to stop.
I know what you're thinking: "Yaaaaaaay; another pushback, Josh? Geez; why don't you get your frakking act together and just type it all up already? Or better yet: why don't you stop being such a lazy putz!?"
Hehehe. Well, I'll admit - I just don't really feel like doing anything anymore for the time being. I think I've worked myself enough on my day off, so as such, I think I'm allowed to be a bit lazy.
So, yeah. Tomorrow. For now, I'm just going to go ahead and conk out.

Incoming Delivery
Whew... what a long day at work. Tiring, surprisingly busy (why do people suddenly have a fascination with getting new television sets?), surprisingly messy (never in my life have I ever seen a luggage section more frakked than a packed room that someone threw a grenade in), and surprisingly ridiculous (parents: please teach your whelps that our products are NOT building blocks - especially the more fragile objects).
Anyway, now that I'm free (I have tomorrow and Tuesday off), I now possess enough time to deliver on my word what should've been delivered on my word yesterday. (Damn you, sickness.)
*starts typing furiously*

Sickness - Redux
It's been over a year since I've gotten violently sick. Now I find myself in the various condition of being in a sate of sickness and pain that - while it's nowhere close to what I had to endure last year - is just uncomfortable and is detracting from me being 100%.
Yesterday as I came in to work, I had this very strange headache. There was a constant and dull throbbing in the background that annoyed me to no end (dubstep, anyone?) that would occasionally give way to an intensely sharp pain. "Imagine someone sawed open your head, filled it with razors and shook it as hard as they could." Also, I had these random bouts of pain that would travel all around my body. I had moments of nausea and had to slow myself down in order to cope with everything.
So after getting home, I found myself unable to sleep. I kept tossing and turning, and every time I woke up, I felt a bit disoriented. To be honest, I only woke up about two hours ago. (Keep in mind that I attempted to fall asleep starting around 0030.)
HOWEVER... I think I'm feeling better now. Due to sleeping horribly, I apparently have pain in my left shoulder (yay for sleeping funny), woke up with a nosebleed, and have a very, very, very light, but other than that I think I'm better.
As such, I regret to inform you that the special stuff I said would show up today will have to be pushed back to Monday. I'm still feeling a little out of it, but I'm doing okay.
See ya' later.

Under a Food Coma

The worst part about typing with a food coma is that you don't want to do anything. I'm sitting here, trying my darnedest to focus and type up an entry for today (as well as work on what's supposed to come out tomorrow), and yet... the only thing that sounds ultimately good is taking a nap.
While that sounds like an excellent idea, I'm telling myself to not do that (despite how much I could probably use the rest) and instead write something. This is what resulted:
But that's later on in the afternoon. For now, I think I'm going to go ahead and take that catnap. Yes... sweepy-time is good time... *zzz*
While that sounds like an excellent idea, I'm telling myself to not do that (despite how much I could probably use the rest) and instead write something. This is what resulted:
- nothing
- work on what's coming out Saturday
- more lamentations about my food coma
- like, two burps
- more "Assassin" moderating
But that's later on in the afternoon. For now, I think I'm going to go ahead and take that catnap. Yes... sweepy-time is good time... *zzz*

So instead, I'm just here to say before I go that you should expect some stuff up... on Saturday.
Take care, everyone. I'll see y'all later.

Still In a Dream
Thank you, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D, for being on the 3DS. I can now have portable awesomeness wherever I go (so long as my battery holds out, at least.
Snake Eater is so amazing that this post is pretty much dedicated to one of my most favorite games of all time. Its awesomeness is so amazing that the only way it could be better is if it were to be combined with another awesome thing. In this case, we're going to combine it with my newfound addiction to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
Anyway, let's just go to the meat of this entry - the music that helps make this game a very memorable one.
CURRENT MUSIC:
Cynthia Harrell - "Snake Eater"
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Original Soundtrack
"Snake Eater" is the theme song to the third game in the Metal Gear Solid series. "Snake Eater" is perhaps one of my favorite songs ever. Apart from the fact that it's the only theme song made for the franchise, it claims this title because of the fact that it represented more than just a game and more than just a story.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater didn't have just the feel of a video game - it had the tone and soul of an interactive spy movie. The obvious themes of tactical espionage action and self-aware fourth-wall breaking humor that the Metal Gear series prided itself on coupled harmoniously with that suave essence commonly used in spy flicks - and because of that, the game has played its way into my personal favorites. "Snake Eater" captured the very soul of the game, and to this day it remains as one of my favorite pieces ever made for a video game. By this, I mean that if this were to start playing, I'd start singing along no matter what, not caring about the looks I'd get or the fact that I'm no mezzo-soprano. (In the event that I can't sing, I'll definitely lip-sync.)
Anyway, enough rambling - I'm looking like a fanboy here, but we don't need any of that. "Snake Eater" resembles the title songs commonly heard in James Bond movies (and spy flicks in general), combining vocals and copious amounts of trumpeting fanfares and sultry strings to create a "spy-esque" theme song. Couple this song with a title sequence that also seems reminiscent of spy movies and you get an amazing set of opening credits that still make me wonder if I'm watching an espionage-based game or playing through a spy movie. (FYI: Click the link I provided if you don't believe me.)
I'll catch y'all tomorrow. I got a lot of work ahead of me, so maybe you'll hear about it then!

I'd say it mixes well. When I saw this, the correlations actually made sense in my mind. Your mileage may vary, though. (Image made by "johnjoseco" and found on DeviantArt.) |

Morning
It's Friday morning, and I'm... *double takes* Wait, wait. "Friday morning?" I'm actually up this early!? The frak is wrong with me?
Nothing, actually. This is what happens when a co-worker convinces me to take their morning shift so they can have a hangover recovery period for their birthday the day before. (My generosity does screw me over from time to time, but hey - a post-birthday hangover recovery period is a nice thing to have.)
*big yawn*
Anyway, might as well get prepped for my day. This is going to be one wild ride...

Sudden Sleep Syndrome?
I find it weird how I'm suddenly sleepy and it's barely 2000ish. It sucks, because I'm a night owl, and that means I stay up all super late.
But suddenly I'm finding myself... *yawn* ...tired. This makes absolutely no sense. I think I'm going to go ahead and succumb to this sleepiness. I'll catch y'all tomorrow
